With the SMART Board™ 800i interactive whiteboard system, it's easy to make learning a natural, hands-on experience. Two people can instantly work on its surface at the same time using their fingers or a pen. The integrated system combines an interactive whiteboard with a short-throw projector that limits shadows and glare, a multiuser Pen Tray and a control panel that enables teachers to manage all classroom technology products from the front of the classroom.
Feature availability: The SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard supports multiuser writing and common multitouch gestures currently recognized in Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard operating systems. SMART Notebook collaborative learning software will support certain features, such as freestyle interaction, touch gestures and full object awareness, upon the release of updated software (SMART Notebook 10.7 software), expected by March 2011.

Teachers can increase the opportunities for classroom collaboration, thanks to the multitouch capabilities of the new 800i. Two people can use their fingers or a pen to write, draw and interact with content on the surface of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard. There are no special tools or menus required – students can simply walk up to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and immediately begin working together.
Freestyle interaction – Expanding the boundaries With freestyle interaction, two students can work together anywhere on the surface without being restricted to a defined space or required to use a specific tool. And each student can perform different actions at the same time. For example, one student can move objects around while the other writes in digital ink.

Using touch gestures*, students can interact with lesson content in new and exciting ways, which gives them a deeper, more interactive learning experience. Students can use simple, intuitive gestures, such as toss, rotate and zoom, or use the navigational gestures available with multitouch operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 7 or Mac Snow Leopard.

The object awareness feature makes using the 800 series a completely intuitive experience – the technology is virtually invisible. You can switch seamlessly from writing with a pen, erasing with the palm of your hand and moving objects with your finger. There's no need to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.

Teachers can access free, ready-to-use educational resources, including thousands of standards-correlated SMART Notebook lesson activities, anytime on the SMART Exchange website. With the release of SMART Notebook 10.7 software, added functionality will become available for SMART Notebook lesson activities, however material created using version 10.6 will also be enhanced by the new features of the 800 series.
*Feature will be supported upon release of SMART Notebook 10.7 software, expected by March 2011.
Two users can simultaneously write, perform mouse functions, erase, and manipulate and move objects on the interactive whiteboard surface – and no special tools are required.
The system enables two users to instantly start working together without having to switch into a separate multiuser mode or work in a confined area. And each user can individually complete actions, like writing in digital ink or moving objects with their fingers.
The 800i uses DViT (Digital Vision Touch) technology to identify when a user switches between a finger, pen and eraser. A user can also write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.
Use simple, intuitive hand and finger gestures to toss, rotate or zoom in on objects and interact within SMART Notebook software. The 800i has built-in support for Windows 7 and Snow Leopard.
SMART Notebook sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. It puts all your instructional materials at your fingertips, and allows you to save any notes or content you write during the lesson to share with students later on. A powerful and easy-to-use application, SMART Notebook software enables you to readily deliver interactive lessons that keep your students engaged and interested.
Pick up one of the pens or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you've selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray select the color and activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.
The Pen Tray includes two wings on the side that allow you to add accessories, such as SMART projector controls.
Hold down a pen color button on the Pen Tray until the light flashes, and the lockable pen option will lock the interactive whiteboard into pen mode, so you can use any device and it will act as a pen. Early education students and students with special needs can use objects, such as tennis balls, to write on the surface.
Discover a responsive and accurate writing experience with SMART Ink. It smoothes out the appearance of the digital ink, which improves the legibility of your handwriting as you write over applications, websites and videos. The ink becomes an object that you can move and manipulate.
Capture your work to SMART Notebook collaborative learning software as a screen shot that you can edit, or save your notes directly into several software applications, including Microsoft Windows versions of PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD software.
The 800i has a low-gloss surface that is optimized for projection. The surface is compatible with dry-erase markers and is easily cleaned.
With the 800i, your computer, projector and SMART Board interactive whiteboard are all connected, so you can turn the entire system on and off quickly with the push of a single button – everything powers up in under 60 seconds.
Switch between all your audiovisual devices directly from the extended control panel. The panel provides centralized control of your classroom technology, including DVD players, digital cameras and document cameras. You can move from a website to a video documentary to a review question quickly and seamlessly. The extended control panel also has a dual-USB port that enables you to connect two computers to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and easily switch between them as required.
Enjoy more room to work. The wide-format 885i model gives you 20% more working space than a standard interactive whiteboard – ideal for classrooms that use widescreen laptops and monitors. The widescreen option combines the SMART Board 885 interactive whiteboard with the SMART UF65w projector, which delivers a 16:10 aspect ratio and native WXGA (1280 x 800) widescreen resolution.
Demonstrate complex spatial concepts using third-party 3D content. The short-throw SMART UF65 projector is 3D-ready, accurately displaying 3D content to students wearing 3D glasses.
Reduce shadows and distractions with the SMART UF65 projector. Because this boom-mounted, short-throw projector is located directly above the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, it creates fewer shadows behind the user, improving the visibility of images, videos and notes.
Receive important messages instantly. Principals and other administrators can display alert messages on multiple 800i systems at the same time.
Experience high levels of brightness and contrast with the SMART UF65 projector. The SMART UF65 delivers 2,000 lumens and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio at a XGA (1040 x 768) resolution. The projector is designed to draw less than 1W of power in standby mode. Its true color quality enhances the crispness of video, images and websites from every position in the room, no matter the lighting conditions.
Install the 800i quickly and easily with the boom and swivel mount. The SMART UF65 projector is mounted directly above the interactive whiteboard, so any classroom can accommodate the 800i without needing complicated wiring or ceiling mounting. The system's integrated elements also ensure it is easy to maintain.
The filter-free design of the SMART UF65 projector eliminates the need for filter cleaning or replacement.
Connect the SMART UF65 projector to your school's network to remotely control and manage it through the web server or SNMP client. As a networked interactive whiteboard system, the 800i's asset management features enable you to control and manage the projector remotely.
The 800i projector bulb lasts for 3,000 hours in standard mode and 5,000 hours in economy mode. And because the projector is network enabled, you will receive e-mail alerts for temperature warnings or when lamp life is running low.
Add SMART Audio classroom amplification system or USB speakers to turn the 800i into a complete multimedia center.
Feel secure with your technology investment – the protection features of the 800i make it a less attractive target for thieves. The projector head, boom and base are all attached, and because the SMART UF65 projector has no buttons, it is rendered inoperable if removed from the extended control panel. The Kensington cable lock slot and padlock loop are additional visual and physical theft deterrents.
Get a three-year warranty on the SMART UF65 projector. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard has a two-year warranty, which is extended to five years upon product registration.
